Too Much Weekend...

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Have you ever felt relief that the weekend was coming to an end and that you would wish for your return to some form of routine come Monday? For once in a rare time, I am actually looking forward to Monday.

Busy weekends full of dinners and plans, parties and outings can be a lot of fun. But I think a sign of age is the desire to be home, snuggled up on the couch with good movies and magazines. When life goes by so quickly, the moments can not be cherished as deeply.

My sisters' birthday dinner at my parents was far nicer than the children's birthday party we went to this morning. Children's parties should be banned; they are a source of all that is the worst in society; greed and extravagance, indulgence and gossip. The mother gleefully declared that she was finally able to rid herself of the leftover Halloween candy in the children's loot bags. We will be taking our son on a weekend excursion rather than subject ourselves to this kind of event.

I am off to watch Nip/Tuck before I tuck myself into my cosy bed on this cold windy night.

How was your weekend?

    Hi Cathy! I should really be in bed but I'm blogging instead :-)

    I love your photos! What camera do you use?

    Next time I see Mr Wiggly Wigglies, I will get one for your son! xx

    Thanks Missy!
    I use a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. I got it for Christmas this year.

    I hope you don't need to get up early for work!

    Connie;
    Thank You!
    We were posting as the same moment; now I am off to watch the show:)

    Busy weekends are great but there are times I need to go to school to catch my breathe. I had one of those this weekend, I should be in bed at 8:00 this evening but it has been so long since I have checked in with my blog buddies.

    Have a restful week.

    Mary

    Has the new season of Nip/Tuck started?
    Anyway, I agree about children's parties. One of the blogs I read, Froth on the Daydream, the author wrote about a horrible children's party she went to. The birthday brat had the audacity to tell her child that he didn't like the gift.

    Mary;
    Going to school to catch your breath; now that is saying something! I wish there were more teachers out there like you!

    SkyeBlue;
    And I await summer cottons.

    Angel;
    I only discovered Nip/Tuck on DVD this year and just finished Season 1; I am about to start renting Season 2.

    Yes, I know exactly the post you refer to; written by Chloe. I don't even know whether this child liked or disliked what we brought; there were so many gifts that he didn't even get the chance to register what he got.

    I was in America a couple weeks ago, and by the end of the trip I wanted to get on the 747 soo bad it hurt...home/your own cozy bed...best place in the world...
    I found your blog via Missbahaven's vlog/blog...
    Weekend...I went out and did a nice bike ride, great weather in Kyushu, caught with friends, and cooked a bit!

    LOL, I feel like that most weekends!! And as far as kids birthdays, I say we pass a law declaring the bannishment of them today! LOL!! You are so right in your view of them...ALL of them!

    Glad you made it through...enjoy your Monday.

    I'm looking for a new digital camera as the one I use doesn't do movies anymore. I've dropped it in at least 10 cities! The cam you're using is one of the cams I'm considering. I like Canon!

    Unfortunately, I do need to get up quite early! I'll catch up on sleep tonight, hopefully! Have a fab week!

    i have come to hate kids parties. Ours is this Saturday (my son's birthday is on the first of April and he has a hard time sounding truthful when he invites friends).
    Everybody is talking about Nip/Tuck and i'm going to the dvd rental place and get it. I don't want to be left behind :)
    Weekend was good but last night, just like you, I thought, God, thanks for Monday morning when they go and leave me in peace for a couple of hours!
    xxxx

    Hi Cathy ... kids parties are soooo exhausting. Doesn't it make you feel old, when you get to the end of a reaaaalllly busy weekend, and you can't wait for the week so that you can slow down !!
    My weekend was very quiet, and I enjoyed it immensely.
    Take care, Meow

    sorry your weekend sucked. Mine was quite low key but it did lead to alot of time to arrange random thoughts.

    My weekend, grumbled, grumbled, grumbled even though Liverpool won and I watched it I still grumbled.

    I was the grumbly, grumpy man all weekend.

    I generally spend my weekends in and my weeknights out. I bit backwards, I know, but I go where the music is :) The weather was nice enough to hike again Sunday, and I took a few photos but the terrain is all depressingly gray.

    PS - I didn't like kids parties even when I WAS a kid.

    Our weekend was good. Pretty quiet and thankfully no birthday parties. :D

    my weekend was stunningly amazing! i know that sounds dramatic...but it was honest to goodness one of those weekends that are so fabulous you don't know what to do with yourself.

    In my life I have only had one actual birthday party, the one at McDonald's which I told Chloe about on her blog.

    The rest have been small, modest affairs, and I like them that way.

    The crazy thing I always found about kids parties is getting the house all nice and neat just so a bunch of kids can come and distroy it.

    Well I hope you enjoy the week better.

    Nathan;
    Thanks for stopping by! Your vlog is crazy!

    MomyBlogR;
    Hope you had a good Monday; mine was crap.

    Missy;
    So did you make it through the day without falling asleep?!

    Chloe;
    I am curious; what are you doing for your son's birthday (I suppose you will be posting about it, though.) My sons' birthday is coming up as well...

    I love Nip/Tuck but it is not for everyone; it is very dark and I close my eyes for the surgery bits.

    Meow;
    Quiet weekends are often the best. Hope your week is as restful.

    Steve;
    My entire weekend didn't suck; it was just hectic; the kids birthday party on Sunday morning did suck, though.

    fb;
    I hope you are no longer the grumbly grump :)

    Stephanie;
    I was the same about kids parties; I think we would have been two peas in a pod, you and I :)

    Lois;
    I think it's unanimous; children's parties are evil.

    Vesper;
    Do tell!

    Eric;
    I like small and modest but I am also up for a big event sometimes as well. Why did you only have the one McDonald's party?...I am sure you explained this on your blog somewhere; any hint as to the date so I can read it?

    Vani;
    You see the moments fleeting every day with a babe...

    DayByDay;
    I have yet to have a kids party at my house; and I may never! :)
