Sunday Hike

Sunday, March 19, 2006

It was a cold (minus 1) day but we decided to go for a hike near the beach anyway. I feel very fortunate to live five minutes away from such a beautiful place. We hardly saw a single person and the air was fresh and even warm in the sheltered areas.

My lovely experiment that Alysa sent is still under construction. But I need to admit that I did something wrong (and I am a real scientist, go figure...). There will be photos eventually! In the meantime, I have been listening to the two cds she sent; she has excellent taste in music and makes really pretty cd covers like this one:

Last but certainly not least, today is my wonderful friend Chloe's birthday. If you haven't already, please drop by and offer her the most deserved well wishes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY my wonderful friend!! xoxo

    Lovely pictures! That beach looks wonderful..it doesn't matter how cold it was. over here it was really windy and (eventually) rainy. So it was great to see the sun over there.
    :) Lucky Cathy!

    That looks lovely! Are you near Peggy's Cove?

    Gorgeous photos, Cathy. Glad you had a lovely hike. Take care, Meow

    Devil Mood;
    Sorry to hear that you had rainy weather. Ours is so often rainy, that we get very excited to have a Sunday with sun, because this is our hiking day.

    Stephanie;
    We are actually very close to Peggy's Cove. There s not a direct road from here to there, though. By boat, you'd be there in mere minutes!

    Meow;
    Thanks, as always, and thanks for taking the time to read all the other posts as well; what a genuine friend you are.

    WOW! like the new look. We did the same thing yesterday, but got there at high tide and couldn't get down the cliff. Great pictures.

    what wonderful pictures. everything looks so fresh.
    i don't particularly like the sea in the summer but i love it during the winter.
    Thanks for all your wishes. I'm sure they are going to come true!

    Lovely photos. Isn't nice to have wonderful places to walk around and enjoy.

    Personally, I can hardly wait for spring to get here!!!

    At least you were out in the fresh air; was it cold or warm?

    Chloe;
    I have to admit that I wished it was a bit warmer but I can't stand hot beaches with suntan lathered people and kids kicking sand in your face. A deserted island, that's what I need.

    wow- you're right. what a beautiful place....but -1?? yikes!

    I wish I only lived 5 minutes from such a wonderful place. I also went for a stroll in the cold today. However had to cut it short because my foot was hurting.

    Vani;
    hardly beach weather, eh!

    DayByDay;

    I hope Monday is good as well! Have a good week.

    MomyBlogR;
    Thanks and have a great week.

    Green eyed girl;
    Yes, time to take off the winter look...

    Madelyn;
    I wish you lived close by and we could have warm drinks and fudge and then go for a nice walk.

    Connie;
    I should have clarififed that this is minus 1 celsius; so 30 F; still cold though! (and thank you:)

    Heidi;
    It would be my pleasure...although, depending on which season you come, one of those beaches is a nude beach!

    Reminds me of Maine.

    Wow--what a beautiful place to walk and so close to your home. Minus 1? Are we talking the same minus 1 fahrenheit? Because you don't have a hat on and your nose hasn't fallen off. :) I'm sorry for my cluelessness on this. I was just wondering . . . Either way, what a beautiful day! Take care. :)

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Christina;
    Hard to take a bad photo of the surroundings when the weather is fine.

    Steve;
    I would love to see your photos!

    Eric;
    The scenery is very similar to the coast of Maine.

    Marel;
    It is -1 C (30 F)...otherwise, you're right; my nose would have fallen off! I did have a hat on but had taken it off in the sheltered areas that were warmer.

  1. Blogger Steve House said:

    I actually promised Erikku a few pics of where I live so i could tie the two in together... hmm I have an idea for a future post

    My foot is still hurting. I was getting up and down a chair trimming the front tree and must have landed the wrong way.

    Love the new photo you put up!

  1. Blogger fb said:

    I always like looking at these photos of where you live...it seems like another planet to me...

  1. Blogger fb said:

    Does that beach get all touristy in summer?!

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    fb;
    Do you not get the chance to get to the shore in England? (when you are well, that is..)

    And no, there are so many beaches here and this province is so scarcely populated that they are not touristy at all. Pure natural environment with mostly locals and people from Halifax. Not a shop or store in sight. Not even a place to buy an ice cream cone until you are a good ten minute drive away. The temperature rarely gets above 25-26 C even in the summer (although we can get individual days into the 30s) so a lot of people from away would consider it too cold. The water remains frigid until late summer (i.e. you step in and it immediately feels like your feet have been amputated).

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Steve;
    So I am awaiting a post of photos of your surroundings...

    DayByDay;
    Sorry to hear about your foot (on top of everything else!)
    And thanks :)

  1. Blogger Skye said:

    Cathy, the "tide was high",and the wind was like whipping right thru us, so we went over to the lake and watched the long row boat teams practice. I know it has a name but don't know what it's called.

  1. Blogger missy said:
