BLIZZARD !!!

Wednesday, February 01, 2006

Our power did not go out, but we had a huge blizzard, which continues into this morning. The entire city has a snow day; no buses running, shops, banks, schools, government, military...everything is closed. The storm will likely be over by mid-day and then everyone will trickle out of their hovels and walk around assessing the amount and seeing what needs to be shovelled and how bad the roads are...a very social Canadian event. We are all home today and waiting for the snow to stop so we can go out and play. In the meantime, we are drinking prolific amounts of coffee (the worst thing to not have when the power does go out, so it tastes extra good this morning), reading magazines and lazing about. Since Wednesday is one of my three work days, I must do some writing this afternoon. Hello Snow. I love you so...?

    Lucky you!!! I want one too :)

    I absolutely love those pictures! :)
    I'm lazing about too, but I've just been in my balcony getting sunbathed. And I've just had my coffee too - I guess it always tastes wonderful, no matter what the weather looks like. I hope you make the most of your day. :)

    How awesome! I would love to be in a blizzard. Enjoy your snow day and coffee too.

    grrrr
    we don't have snow but we've had many power cuts today. And i couldn't make coffee in the morning. I put my cup near the radiator to warm it up!

    Yay fo snow days! I miss those. They were fun for school kids (which I was when I had my last one).

    I heard part of N. Vancouver Island had a major power outage laast night too... clear across the country from you. Theirs wasn't due to snow but excessive rain, and probably a wind storm.

    At least you get to play in the aftermath of yours. In B.C. everyone has to towel dry and get on with their day.

    Stephanie;
    We are house bound; a good and bad thing...

    Devil Mood;
    We are playing in the snow, cleaning the house, having soup and hot chocolate and well, yes, a good day...

    Nancy;
    Quite different from your weather, I suppose!

    Chloe;
    What irony; we have the blizzard and your power goes out. Hope it's back on for good.

    Blackcrag;
    The weather is supposed to change to plus 10 and rain on the weekend. Winter, spring, winter, spring, winter, spring...and so it goes...

    Will;
    I can not even fathom the idea of golf given the view out my window. And unfortunately it is not the snowball sort of snow; too powdery; no stick at all; can't even make a snowman....good for tunnels, though...

    Wow! Just like that...or is it summer in the house!?

    I think the photos are beautiful. I know after a while you just want the snow to go away, but when it first floats down, it is so picturesque.

    lovin the pics- a blizzard is great once in a while- its amazing how life just stops and time kinda freezes, very refreshing. but hope the power stays on! :)

    It looks like something from a picture book, it's so beautiful. I'm glad you all get a day off when things like this happen. MMmmm Coffee!!

    Yes, we have the heat cranked up like summer...walking around barefoot, as usual.

    Dr.Deb;
    Oh, but looks can be deceiving...

    Vani;
    The wind is over now, so we managed to scrape through this one without losing power.

    Michelle;
    There is no other choice than to have a day off; nothing can move...

    Glad you enjoyed your snow day. The photos look beautiful. Is it scary when there is a blizzard raging outside ?? I have never experienced anything like that, couldn't imagine it. Stay warm, Meow

    Meow;
    I don't find blizzards scary but then probably because I am rather used to them. If I expereienced one for the very first time I would likely find it scary. The worst part id the wind and the snow blowing horizontally...
