Where did this spare time come from?

Sunday, November 19, 2006

I went to the craft store to buy wool felt yesterday, thinking that I would like to make handmade slippers for the boys, but they didn't sell it. Rather than leave empty-handed (can't have that!) I bought the supplies to make this purse, which I did while the oldest two (:) were at the Christmas Parade last night. It was a hard thing to take a proper photo of, actually.
I had a hard time choosing the colours, but now that I've made one I want to make some more. I have no idea who I am making these for. Perhaps I'll start an etsy shop?

What would one charge for a hand-embroidered dish towel? Priceless, I know.

Oh Cathy, the purse is just adorable!! What a great job you did with it and I love the material and colours!! I've tried my hand at sewing but it's just not my forte...that's why I admire people who can:-) The embroidered dishtowels are beautiful too!!! xox

    Thank you, Pea!
Tell me what your favourite colour combination would be!
(love the new Christmassy photo :)

Ohhhhh - those are excellent! You made those just last night?

I made the purse last night; I've been working on the dish towels periodically through the week.

You are so talented!! I'm still stuck on embroidering my stuffed cat's face. :)

You should make a plaid one, (I like plaid) and then go the Monica Lewinsky route, and do it for a living.

Or you could go into business with Steph and start a whole line!

Dunno about the time, but I'm impressed by the skill and handiwork. Very cool.

I've been looking for a new purse for almost a year. Today we were just window shopping and of course now that I have no money guess what I find the perfect purse. My daughter just couldn't comprehend me charging a purse when I have been complaining that I can't buy groceries. O'well maybe next time.

The purse is adorable! You're so crafty! I always wanted to be crafty, but I lack the skills! As for the towels, in NYC you could totally get $15-20 apiece for them, I think.

The purse is wonderful, Cathy, the colours are just perfect together.
The embroidered towels are also so cute ... where do you find the time ??
    Have a great week.
    Take care, Meow

Send me your cat and I'll fix it for you; free of charge!

I'll make a plaid one for you; in a Nova Scotia tartan ;)

The dish towels were $1 from the dollar store; the embroidery spruces them up...

Thank you; I didn't blog last evening (that must be where I found the time..)

Things will get brighter; and there will always be another purse...

$15/$20???!!! I am quiting my job in academia and moving to NYC to sell tea towels on the street corner. (I only paid $1 for them before I emrbroidered on them).

I wish I had more time...I have too many interests; I wish I didn't need to sleep!

Is there any end to your talents ? LOL, I think we should have a TV syndication. They could film it from your house for CBC.

    Dear Cathy,
That purse is just wonderful. I can't believe you made it so quickly. Those are the things that you should definitely try to sell...I would buy one!! Love the towels too!

    Hugs to you my friend,

I will make you one...what colour would you like?...I think I might actually start a shop as well, but then again where would I find the time to make more things !?...

You crack me up...I have many other talents that you all don't know about.....I think we should host a blog talent show; hmmm...

You are so sweet; I would make one for you as well (you don't need to buy one; what colour scheme would you like?)...I think I actually might set up a little shop, though.

I envy your ability to make things with your hands. Mine thing they were just made for feeding my face. Well done Cathy!!

The thing with crafts is that people don't always appreciate the work behind it. I understand that it seems silly to buy something for a price when you can get the same Made in China for much less but...things are starting to change, I think.
I really like the interior on your purse, it's lovely. :)

  1. Blogger [eric] said:

That would be sweet, except I don't think I would be carrying it around out in public. There's a little stigma out there concerning guys and purses. ^_-
