The Weekend that Was

Sunday, July 30, 2006

Lots of beach time this weekend.With the weather in the high 20s/low 30s, it was the best thing to do. The waves were really high today, and my son rated them, with a thumbs up, or down,....
He hovered around the surfers, and made surf moves. I need to get him a toy surfboard.

Playing with his chum.

And there was cooking and baking, the following of which I brought for my father's birthday party.

Jamie Oliver's Caprese salad.

Mediterranean Salad with mandarine dressing.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

    Hey, happy birthday to your Dad - I love it that he has loads of colourful bags around him, it's like a kids party. We should all be kids again on our birthdays :)
    Ah the waves...I miss that already!

    Happy Birthday to your dad from me as well.

    The beaches don't look as congested as they do round here. Must not be hot enough in CA.

    MomyBlogR;
    Thank You :)

    Devil;
    Welcome back!
    My dad is like a big kid. :)

    Sonia, Sophie and Dr. Deb; Thank you.

    Eric;
    It's funny how no one else apprears in the photos. The beach was actually quite full of people. Somehow they all avoided my camera. They were all bathing on the sand, I guess, and scared to touch the cold water. All my photos point towards the water! I'll take a picture of the people next time.

    You're right; Nothing!

    Stephanie;
    I'm sure he would thank you ;)

    Chloe;
    He was very excited (and it wasn't just because of too much wine, either; that's how he is!)...He had just opened a new shirt from my sister; a Deutschland t-shirt; the only man I know who can get such a thrill from a shirt.

    The salads were o.k.; but nothing too great; I prefered the mandarine one, but only because the caprese salad made me have nightmares last night; I dreamt about it and then awoke with a tummy-ache. Mr.C had to go searching through the bathroom and medicine drawers looking for some gravol and came back with dramamine (Sp.?)...it's a sea-sickness medication. I had to take one to make me feel better!!! So now I know...caprese salad makes me sea sick.

    You must be up very late or way too early, my dear. I hope you're not having insomnia.

    Damn, there is food porn everywhere I go these days.

    Yummy, yummy, yummy, salads. I recently picked up the Book of Coffee (guess what that one's about?), Kate Aitken's Canadian Cookbook, a reprint of a 40's-50's Canadian cookbook (the old ways are often still the best ways), and Cocina Nueva, a Spanish recipe book. I'm going to have fun in my kitchen soon.
