Happy Birthday, Babe.

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

My sweet babe. We had his birthday on Sunday. I could say that I can't believe he is one already, but really, that's not true. This has been a long year. Raising children is no easy job, and we hear this a lot so the words become meaningless. In the doing, it is very real. But the joy and the love overwhelms you at times. I think that I will look back on this past year for many years to come and think about how great it has been. We've had fun, you and I...here's to many many more, my love. Ready for the Birthday party...

Notice the grandfathers in either corner of the room...

All the good cake photos showed the babe's name.

Why haven't you fed me this before??!? Not for a long time, babe. Needless to say, Mr. C has been on diaper duty for the past few days :)

I'm such a loser, that I am posting the first comment on my own blog! :)

This is for Chloe, who got anxious because I hadn't posted anything on the party yet...I tried twice earlier today, but blogger was being a right royal bugger. So now you have it; anxious auntie :)

Oops, Vani beat me to it!
    Thanks, Vani!

Look at him enjoying his cake like a perfect gentleman! Happy first Birthday sweet babe. (imaginarily pinching cheeks).
    Thanks Cathy!
(Now you are going to have to post the cake's recipe you know. )

Happy 1st Birthday! Soo cute. Cake tastes so much better when you eat it with your hands.

Why put his name on the cake? He can't read yet! (kidding)

Happy birthday to the little guy. Hope he (and you) had a great day.

WOW! A Year! I'd loved to spent my first year with a cutie like your little sweetheart. "Happy birthday" little man.

Thanks for stopping by, and of course, you are right.

    Thanks :) xo

(the cake was a chocolate cake mix: shhhhhh) But the frosting was from scratch. I think I've posted it before....I did make a cinnamon loaf from scratch tonight, though. For company that didn't come. Shall I ship it to Greece?

I am happy to hear that his smile was infectious. (Thank you again for the package :)

Double fisted. The only way to properly eat chocolate cake. At least on your first birthday, anyway.

He had even more fun in the bath afterwards!

I agree; throw away the fork when it comes to cake :)

Oh, I did have his name on it; I just didn't want it in the photo on the internet...even though he can't read now, he'll want to se all the trouble his mother went through when he is older!

I am very lucky, it's true. Glad you're back!

Happy birthday and congratulations to you! I didn't realize he was such a baby :)
A friend of mine told me about this tradition in her family, when on every 1st birthday they'd let the baby eat the b-cake any way he/she wanted too. I suppose you did something like that ;)

Happy Birthday again...I hope you enjoyed your teramisu.

I only made chocolate because it is my older son's favourite...it might not have been such a good idea for a one year old, but he really didn;t get that much into his mouth; most of it landed everywhere else!

    What a great memory.
He is not walking yet, but getting very very close.

I have two boys; the older one is 5, and then the babe, of course.
    Have a great day.

I really enjoyed looking over your blog. I stumbled across it while I was looking for diaper cakes to compare to some of the diaper cakes I make. If you get a chance, go to www.diapergifts.com and let me know what you think. I will be coming back to vist your blog often. Good Luck!
