Grass on the Other Side

Saturday, June 03, 2006

I am away,
I am wishing I were back.
I am back,
I'm wishing I were away again.

I'm at home,
I'm wishing for a sandy beach.
I am on that beach,
I'm wishing I were home again.

I am in the grass,
I'm wishing for the greener spot.
I am in the greenest patch,
I'm wishing I were back again.

I am satisifed,
I am yearning now.
I am content,
I am restless again.

I'm waiting for this feeling to end.
It always does.

I stopped reading Elizabeth Gibert's book, for the time being. Wrong book for this mood. And I am now reading (well, almost finished) "A Long Way Down" by Nick Hornby. It's a genius book..so funny and the characters are great.

I know the feeling of this poem. Reaching for content but always seeming to want something else. I need to get into a book too. I hope all is well. Thanks for checking on me. How is work and the kids? Talk to you later.

    Hi Marel!
I saw your pictures from your trip; it must have been wonderful. Hard to take a vacation with two little ones, but a lifetime of memories for them.

I haven't been doing too much work lately,....but the kids are fine. The babe turns one in two weeks. Can you believe it!?

Oh, how I know those feelings! The Nick Hornby book is on my mile-long "to-read" list. I got discouraged after How to Be Good (which I hated) and completely forgot about it.

This poem is wonderful. I understand it completely.

I haven't read anything for a few months, I picked up a book today and cannot put it down.

being restless is what drives you forward. this feeling of discomfort, is just a by-product, a minor nuisance compared to all the good things that come from being restless, free and alive.
