Walk a mile in my flip-flops

Would you? Like To?
This week has been one of very high highs and significantly low lows.

I was going to describe the details of each day to you but then decided that I wasn't really interested in writing it all out. And not sure that anyone would want to read it all anyway. So I guess I am leaving it at that. Unless you change my mind, that is. I can be fickle that way. The weather is finally starting to feel somewhat like summer, or the late spring that it is anyway.
Monday is Victoria Day in Canada, a holiday, so we have a long weekend. Phew. But then again, with a five year old and a nearly one year old in the house, is there such a thing as a holiday!?

    Welcome back Cathy..You were missed :)

    Now y I'm getting concerned with the " low lows"..ugh I hope everything is fine...If u don't feel like talking about the low I understand..But would love to hear the "highs" ..Those r always nice to read.

    Happy Victoria Day..Enjoy the long weekend~

    Heidi;
    I missed being here; the highs had to do with work and the book I am writing, as well as the babe, who is starting to stand on his own, and my son, who is as smart and amazing as ever.

    The lows have to do with my sons' preschool; we had an incident that I am still trying to sort out in my head...there are three teachers; but the one who interacts with my son the most is not a good teacher, and she said some things to both me and to my son that were inappropriate. I am still dealing with this...he may not be going back there for much longer.

    The highs and lows of having children, really....

    Hi!!
    I think it's always interesting to walk in someone else's shoes. I'd loan my birkenstocks to anyone willing to try!!!

    Angel;
    Birkenstocks for Flip-Flops; seems like a fair trade to me...

    have a great holiday- what is Victoria day anyway?

    i love flip flops! when i lived in NY -wearing flip flops in the city sucked because the bottoms of my feet would be black at the end of the day. good thing that is not a problem here in VA. :)

    Connie;
    Thanks for checking on me: I appreciate and enjoy our friendship!

    Vani;
    Victoria Day is the official day that Canadians celebrate the Sovereign Queen's birthday, and has been since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the "Province" of Canada in 1845. So it actually predates Confederation. I am sure this is more than you wanted to know, however...for most Canadians it is simply a day to drink beer and watch t.v. :)

    Glad you're checking in. Sounds like a roller coaster week, hope the low's were not too draining, and the high's exhilerating :o)
    Nice to see you back, enjoy you're long weekend :o)

    Michelle;
    Like a roller-coaster; most certainly and draining was the perfect word for half of it. Today ended on a nice note, so hopefully the remainder of the weekend will be good. Nice to hear from you again as well.

    Hi Cathy! Welcome back! Of course we'd love to hear all about it! x

    I agree, there is no real holiday with two little kids :) And obviously it's a big concern whenever you think that someone isn't fit to be their teacher...I'm thinking that having kids generates concerns that you didn't even imagine you could have...not that it's not wonderful, of course it is! :)
    I'm making a really stupid question now: is Canada part of the Commonwealth? is that why you still celebrate that holiday?

  1. Blogger Stephanie said:

    Welcome back! It's always good to hear from you. I'm happy to hear the book's going well and the kids are being kids :) Hope things get better for the rest of the weekend and beyond & you're able to get your son in a school you feel better about.

    Missy;
    I gave a brief overview in my comment above to Heidi; this teacher didn't do anything too serious but the cumulative things she has said over the past year lead me to want him to be away from her. He goes to a new school in September anyway, so I am thinking that I can figure things out for the short-term. This whole situation just kind of exploded in my face this week. Then there was a major electrical storm one night and I was out in it and came upon a completely blocked road; I went to an acquaintances house to sit it out...AND then I found out that someone I had worked with died of a sudden heart attack....yikes!

    But this is life; the highs, the lows...

    Devil Mood;
    You write like you completely understand; I would have thought you had children yourself if I didn't know better! It will be great when you have children, if you chose to, because then you will be going into it with a good understanding of what is involved.

    And yes, Canada is a part of the Commonwealth; the Queen is all over our currency...:)

    Stephanie;
    I've missed you. I needed the break, but I am so glad to be back and talking with you guys again. xo

  1. Blogger Heidi said:

    Yes..I'm understanding why the "lows"..Sorry about what your son has been going through all yr with that teacher and of course your co-worker..very sad and sudden to hear such news.btw Thanx for the Canadian History lesson...That wasn't my best subject in school :X ;)

    There may not be holidays but i'm sure evryday is an adventure with inquisitive minds.

    i want to know all the highs and all the lows. also the strangest thing happened last night: i saw you in my dream! it was cool! i saw the kids too! the babe was taking a bath and playing with bubbles and splashing water all around. and your other son was telling me stories about santa. i woke up very happy. :)

    We have a holiday coming next week. Try to enjoy it!

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Heidi;
    I looked it up :0)
    Thanksfully, the school year is almost over and he will start a new school in the fall (with a whole new set of issues and concerns, most likely...)

    fb;
    Oh, yes, that's for sure...the babe will be walking soon and getting into everything more than ever.

    Chloe;
    You have me frightened that you are somehow supernatural now...the babe loves to splash and tries to eat the bubbles in the tub; in fact, that is what we did last evening. And my 5 year old mentioned Santa to me for the first time since Christmas; honestly, this is true...how are we linked in this way!?

    Day;
    I'm enjoying, I'm enjoying!! And I will be jealous next weekend when it is your long one.

  1. Blogger x said:

    now i am frightened!
    in a good way!

  1. Blogger Devil Mood said:

    Cathy: hehe I think I am an understanding person, I try to be. I'm not sure I'll be good with children though but when the time comes I'll know.
    Oh okay, thanks for enlightening me, I'm very ignorant about the commonwealth but I'm getting more informed. Have a good sunday!

  1. Blogger Scholiast said:

    As holidays go, I guess just doing something different counts.. For 'real' holidays you'd need time away from the kids (I do that. Maybe I'm a bad mom. But I'm a better one on return)..

    Highs and lows are very hard to navigate in flip flops, at least for me. They look mah-velous on you though!

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Chloe;
    Please tell me if you have psychic powers; I could put these to good use!

    Devil Mood;
    I think you will be wonderful with children...
    Now I feel the need to be enlightened about Portugal :)

    Scholiast;
    I am away from my children when I go on work trips. Otherwise, I wouldn't go anywhere without them.

    Dr. Debs;
    The flip-flops only came out by the weekend. I was wearing hiking boots to navigate the hills and valleysd of last week! Let's hope I don't need to haul those out again!

    Hope your long weekend is great, and the upcoming week has more highs than lows. Glad you're back. Take care, Meow

    I'm sorry to hear about the low's. I've got some margarita's to go along with the flip-flops. :)

  1. Blogger Steve House said:

    probably not much of a rest day but a holiday from other things Im guessing! It is up to you what you tell me about but as long as you are well that the important thing. I would personally think about the high highs whenever i day dream

  1. Blogger christina said:

    So sorry to hear about the lows - at least that problem will come to an end fairly soon. Hope you can hold out and reach and agreeable solution.

    But just remember, no matter what happens, you will always have very elegant toes. :-) I love your sandals!

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Hello Scrappy!

    Thanks, Meow.

    Steve;
    How did you get to be so wise? How old are you again?...

    Christina;
    Thank you for your support. And thanks for the nice coment about my toes...Mr. C actually has a funny word to describe my toes. :)
