I took my son to see the new Curious George movie yesterday, and it was just o.k., although I had low expectations to begin with. It could have been so much better...but I have been an avid Curious George lover since I was a little girl. I had a stuffed Curious George which was recalled by the manufacturer (it must have been 1977) because the lettering on his outfit was discovered to be toxic. Just don't lick them, my mother said, and I was allowed to keep mine. Then he was lost in our move to Nova Scotia and I mourned him (along with other things). As soon as I first saw one when my son was a baby, I bought it right away. He is now missing a button and has been loved and will be by the babe as well. Nothing beats an original.

On top of the movie just being ok, we had our drinks stolen from the cup holders on our seats!, and it was minus 20 degress Celsius outside and the cold was creeping into the cracks of the theatre...

Today I spent my day with Fischer Price toys; cars and trains and brightly coloured plastic of all shapes and sizes...the mind numbs after awhile. Tomorrow I must switch gears and give a presentation to environmentalists....

And now, time to catch myself up on the news of the day....

I was thinking about taking Kiran to see the George flick but decided I would wait for the video.

Isn't it fun to be able to play with toys for a day and just enjoy it!! Tomorrow it is back to school and 27 little darlingsssss.

I just love sitting down and playing with kids toys ... and as mums we have the licence to do it, and no-one will think we are odd !!
Hope the presentation goes well tomorrow.
    Take care, Meow

I guess today was a holiday in the US?...not in Canada;...I am just balancing two full time jobs! :)

It can be fun, when you are relaxed...the presentation will be fine if the weather stays fine for me to get there!

I most certainly will; I am always kissing him on the top of his head! :)

I think my expectations might have been too high, I was cold and my drink was stoledn, so your experience might be a lot better than mine was.

We don't have Curious George here. I can't believe your drink was stolen, how awful.
Kudos for your presentation tomorrow :o)

You mean the movie or at nothing Curious George at all?

I bought the drinks, placed them in the cup holders, turned my back for two minutes to pay and then they were gone; obviously some silly prank, but man it annoyed me!! People can be so stupid.

    Babe says 'Meglomania...' ;)

(Yes, I am going to bed Cathy, i do realise what time it is here!)

He is lord over the little people...:)
So sorry I sounded like your mother the other day; we are the same age, after all...stay up as long as you like (and then sleep in tomorrow, of course).

Cathy - OMG! Who steals soda's at the movies!

I remember the books from back in grade school. Sad that they made a movie out of it. It's like what's next to pilage eh?

    Peace & Hugs,

    - Neo

Don't really know why but I never became a Curious George fan...very surprising to me. So sorry you had your drinks taken. What in the world is going on.

Best of luck with your presentation tomorrow.

You have well oiled brain, that is all I can say. You DO swtich gears like crazy and it's from one extreme to the other. I'm very impressed! :)

When they get old enough for slot cars, train sets and radio controlled boats, you absolutely must start including me on the birthday party invites list.

PS can you send me another e-mail please, I can't find the one you sent me 8^(

Incidentally, I am concerned that you might have to update your first nation of hockey comment in your profile....

"The bottom line is we have to find a way to score a goal," Canadian forward Kris Draper told CBC Sports.

    What's going on?

I cannot believe some people’s behaviour! Stealing drinks in a theatre? I hope they choked on it.

Today is a stat holiday in Canada… at least in my part of Canada. Alberta has Family Day today. The only downside is I don’t have a family. But I did spend the day in a museum learning about the city of Petra… an ancient city carved out of cliffs and canyons in Jordan. Amazing, and beautiful. Today was also spent with friends, which is always pleasant.

Note to Jase: While I hold out hope for the men's team, Canada will still be the first nation of hockey as women just beat Sweden for gold. Only two goals against in the entire Olympics. Well done, ladies!

We've never had Curious George here. In fact i've never seen him before.
What kind of losers steal drinks? Next time, make sure you spit in your drink before you place it in your cup holder and have your son do the same. That'll put them off.
Thank you for the tulips. I'm emailing you (threat)

Hi there. I like your mate's dancing cat. I had a 'fat furry friend' bought from a village fete-my mother didn't care to name him and I thought he'd been named. He got laundered and thrown away. Thought it would never happen x

I would like to take Little Big Boy and Number One Daughter to see Curious George, but have not heard good things about it. Sad-though I loved the short films about Curious George that were on television when I was growing up.
Stolen drinks? You just know that trolls were watching for an opportunity to take them, too. Shame. Renee

The women rock, then men...not so much...;)

People who want to watch me get rise out of someone stealing my soda I guess...that's how I felt exactly about the movie; pilaged.

Oh you are missing out! Curious George is wonderful. And yes, what is this world coming to...

Just as long as I don't confuse gears one of these days...

    E-mail on the way...
And I might need to change my bio quote to the first nation of female hockey...

I was looking around for someone to choke or stiffled laughter but saw nothing...correct about the hockey...

I am surprised that Curious George did not make his way across the ocean; he is fabulous...

I didn't even have a chance to spit in my drink; the top had not even been screwed off yet; simply ridiculous!

    mothers! Thanks for dropping by...

thanks for dropping by...trolls, yes you are right.

Oh Cathy if I was with you at the time, YOu would seeme stand up and demand who the F/N stole my drink! ugh sorry that had to happen.

  1. Blogger Cathy said:

    Isn't it crazy!?
I wish you were there with me; I would have paid to have seen that!
My son was with me, though, so I had to act nonchalant about it..otherwise he'd end up being afraid to go to movie theatres or something!

First Nation of Female Hockey! I like that, of course in my book it still leaves Canada behind Brazil, which is First Nation of Female Beach Volleyball. 8^)

I can't imagine Curious George will make it into Danish cinemas, so thanks for letting me know that I'm not missing anything. As for the stuffed Curious George doll, I'm highly envious. He was one of my favorites (along with Madeleine) when I was a kid.

Now, I'm off to look at some of your other posts...you give good blog! :-)
