Christmas Television

Sunday, December 11, 2005

We watched this tonight. We have the VHS from years ago, and wanted to share it with our son. He loved it, although obsessed about how Miss Piggy was able to get cleaned up before she got to the farmhouse. While looking for this photo, I came across this site, which provides a list of the top 100 Christmas shows. A Muppet Family Christmas ranks 6. What is your favourite? And who's your favourite muppet?

    The Swedish Chef, and I also like the two scientist.

    My Christmas movies are also literary classics: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the original cartoon, not Jim Carrey's live action version) and the colourized version of A Christmas Carol, with Alistair Sims playing Scrooge.

    I unnerve my roommates by singing like the Swedish chef while cooking in the kitchen. But my favourite Muppet? Ah... how to choose? All I can say is I want to be Animal but live more like Gonzo.

    Oh man, hard to choose. I'd say 1)A Charlie Brown Christmas, 2( Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and 3) Dr. Seuss' The Grinch who Stole Christmas.

    My favourite Muppet? Elmo!! With Grover a close second. And Kermit's not bad either. Can you tell I have trouble making up my mind? :-)

    Chloe;
    I like the Blackadder Christmas Carol, as well. It's played on the CBC every year. I actually don't think I've seen the Simpson's special. My son gets very angry at Statler and Waldorf; they shouldn't be making so much fun of Fozzy and let him tell his jokes! ;)

    Blackcrag;
    The Grinch is on tv tonight!
    My brother used to do the same thing with the Swedish chef imitations; it used to drive me crazy, but it was funny:)

    Superman;
    Can't remember specifics; you should rent it and rekindle your childhood memories. It is actually very funny and full of humour that we wouldn;t have gotten as kids; lots there for adults to find humorous.

    Christina;
    So many good shows and characters! I agree with all of your selections. Are these Christmas specials in German on tv?

    I've always been partial to Beeker and Rolf, the piano playing dog.

    My Muppet faves?
    Gonzo, Rolf, and the Fraggles!

    My Christmas faves?
    A Christmas Story, The Grinch original, Rudolph, Scrooged, and Charley Brown, all the way.

    I always hated Frosty. Happy Birthday!

    I love Beeker, and Rolf the Dog is very funny in this movie. "I've been chasing a truck all day, I'm exhausted"...ha ha ha...

    Erikku;
    Come to think of it, Frosty was kind of wimpy; the Happy Birthday thing is annoying.

    Vani;
    Hey there, I was just over at your site and worried that you had left and gone into early labour!

    You've all already named my favorite muppets: Statler & Waldorf, Beeker & the Dr, Swedish Chef (you put the bock bock in the pot). Y'know - the only Christmas special really remember is Rudolph. hmm.
