Steadfast rock, this I will be

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

No Coward Soul Is Mine
-Emily Bronte

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.

O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life--that in me has rest,
As I--undying Life--have Power in Thee!

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts: unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.

Though earth and man were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou--Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

    My brother has tried again;
    his wife has given up on him.
    I will do whatever I can
    I will be steadfast;
    He needs a rock when he
    Withers like a leaf.
    I am here.
    For you.

    my dear Cathy, you are such a strong person, you are a rock.
    it is bad that she gave up on him, but you never know where changes lead us, so some distance might do him good.
    And i am here for you. xx

    I have a brother
    he is all the world to me
    I did not choose him as my mate
    I did not have a voice or vote
    we have grown older and away
    and yet I hold him still
    here in my heart
    and love him ever
    and forever

    Oh Cathy, I'm sorry.

    You were talking about getting him to blog, before. Keep trying that. If the problem is he feels hes dealing with something by himself, then blogging is probably the best way to reach out and find he isn't alone.

    Wishing you both strength and a solution. Take care of yourself as well as him.

    I don't know what to say.

    I'll keep him in my thoughts for you.

    I wish you and your brother all the strenght needed to get over this soon. I'm really glad you're willing to be his rock, I'm sure you already are.
    And you're a poet too! :)

    Thank you again, dear friends, for your words uplift me; you all are my pebbles that amount to a solid rock in and of themselves.

    This poem is Emily Bronte; I could never aspire to such words of wisdom in such pure poetry as this.

    I love you all.

    I can't put into words what I feel about what you've written, so I'll say nothing.

    Just know I visited today.

    God Bless!

    Oh Cath.
    I just finished reading a book-
    "serving crazy with curry'
    about a woman who tries to
    commit suicide and is found
    by her mother...
    and the healing process.
    Not this book necessarily but
    maybe a book written by
    someone who has gone through this
    and KNOWS how it feels...

    i know these are really useless
    words Cathy -
    tell his wife NOT to give up on
    him.
    Hugs Cathy.

    Love you.

    Thank you everyone;
    As a matter of update, my brother is in the hospital and under 24 hour care; he is safe and getting treatment. We'll take it one step at a time.

    Have a good weekend, friends. xo
